Grieg: Kom, bukken til gutten (Early Summer Song)

Edvard Grieg wrote several songs to poems by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. "Kom, bukken til gutten" is one of the most popular ones, here in a version for youth string orchestra. The harmonies and chromatic lines give this unpretentious little tune an unmistakeably Griegian sophistication!

Note that the Viola and Cello 1 parts in this arrangement are interchangeable.

  1. Thank you for sharing your music. I have a question how you are able to get this image on your blog. I am trying to set up a blog for my your orchestra and can't seem to get my sheet music from the notation software to the blog post. If you can please give me some tips. Thanks-Shara

  2. Hi, Shara! I write the music in Finale PrintMusic, and save it as a PDF file via the Print menu (if you have the full version of Finale I think you can choose "export as PDF" from the File menu). Then I use a different program to convert the PDF to a .jpg image. I use Preview on my Mac, but I'm sure many graphics programs can do that. It's a bit cumbersome, but it works...

Good luck with your blog - be sure to send me the link to it when you're done, so I can post it here! :)
